How to Decorate a Christmas Tree

It’s that time of year! Where you get to drive around and enjoy all the decorated homes and the beautiful Christmas trees shining through people’s windows. Trees filled with ornaments, garland, and lights! If you decorate your tree and find yourself a little disappointed in the result, we have some tips for you. Now remember – there is not right or wrong way to decorate. As long as you love your tree, that’s all that matters. But if you are needing a little inspiration and want some tips, you have come to the right place. If a new home is on your wish list – you have also come to the right place!!

Light up the tree first

The first step we recommend is the lights. If you bought a pre-lit tree, you are one step ahead of everyone else. Once you get your lights picked out you want to start at the base and work your way up to the top. Make sure you wrap the lights around every major branch and that you push the lights in all the way back to the trunk. This will give your tree a full look. Keep in mind, if you have old lights, you can replace them with more energy efficient ones that will lower your electric bill this year!

Add Tree Garland

There are many options for garland, so once you decide on one you will start at the top. You can use a think fancy garland or the small thin beads. Once you get your garland situated at the top, you will wrap around the tree and work your way down. We recommend that you have all the end pieces in the back of the tree if possible.

Have fun with ornaments

The last step to your tree decorating is the ornaments. We recommend laying them out from most to least favorite. This way, you can showcase your favorite ornaments and use the least favorite ones as fillers.  Every few ornaments take a few steps back and re-evaluate your tree to make sure they are scattered evenly.

We hope these tips help you decorate your tree this year! Most importantly, have fun doing this! If you love your tree, that’s all that matters!
