Tips for Selling Your Home in the Winter

Selling a property in the winter can be stressful and overwhelming at times. We want you to know that with the right team, and the correct winter selling strategies it is possible to get your home sold for top dollar during winter months. Here are a few tips on selling your home during the cold and snowy winter months.

Keep the heat on

Buyers will not enjoy looking at your home if it is cold inside. They will rush through the process, missing all the great features in hopes of getting back to their warm cars. You want to make sure that the heat is kept at a comfortable temperature that will increase the time buys spend in the home. A warm & cozy house shows better than a cold one. If you have a programmable thermostat, remember to adjust the temperature as if you were home.

Make sure the home is accessible

Clear the driveway and any sidewalks on your property before each showing. This will help keep snow out of the home and also allows the buyer to enjoy the property more. This way you can also prevent slips and falls on your property.  While it’s snowing, it’s best to go out frequently and shovel the snow. You may also want to hire a company to come by once or twice a day to help out if the snow is bad enough.

Use the fireplace

If your home has a fireplace, make sure it works! Encourage your agent to use it during open houses and clear all clutter from in front of the fire. Fire adds a nice ambiance and a feeling of warmth that your potential buyers will enjoy. A cluttered fireplace is a sign that the fireplace has not been used and can leave the buyers wondering if it even works.
